We study the Mechanics and Dynamics of numerous proteins from the level of cells to proteins.
We have established a new research group that studies the Mechanics and Dynamics of numerous proteins from the level of cells to proteins (MADCAP) in the School of Biosciences at the University of Kent. This group consists of Neil Kad, Ben Goult, Dan Mulvihill, Wei-Feng Xue and Mike Geeves.
The group has a common interest in the dynamics of protein behaviour from the study of single protein molecules through to the operation of the same proteins in the complex environment of the cell. Specifically the group focuses on proteins involved in the generation, sensing and use of mechanical forces in the cell including the actin binding protein myosin, tropomyosin and talin and the DNA processing enzymes such as RNA polymerase and the DNA repair systems.
